Dear Friends and Alumni

Dear Alumni and Friends:

There is an African Proverb that says, “If you don’t know where you are going, any road will get you there.”

At Morris Brown College, we are clear about where we are going and the road we must take.  Because our focus at the College is to regain your confidence,we have chosen the path that will lead us to accomplishing our goal of accreditation in addition to fulfilling our mission of commitment to excellence in education—and we have faith that this will happen.

To accomplish this goal will require careful and accurate planning, extraordinary hard work, the acquisition of substantially more financial resources, and the cooperation and support of internal and external communities.  In this regard, Morris Brown College is launching a three-year initiative, with the goal of raising $20 million.  You, our supporters, can be instrumental in helping us accomplish this goal.  With your gifts toward our annual fund and capital campaign, as well as your legacy giving, we will have the finances needed to regain accreditation, to remain competitive, and to reach new and stimulating levels of excellence.

We are appealing to each of you for your assistance.  Our request now is the same as it was last year—that is, for every supporter to give at least $500.00 by the end of March of next year.  If just 4,000 of you, our supporters, would give that amount by the end of March 2018, we would raise $2 million! As stated by our accreditation consultant Dr. Pete Silver, CEO of Silver & Associates, this level of commitment would speak volumes, demonstrating alumni and supporters’ belief in the College’s ability to achieve financial stability.

Your giving at the level we are requesting would not only prove financial stability for the College, which is essential for our accreditation, but also provide resources for the people and the programs that make Morris Brown College a special place.  We will be able to heighten our ability to attract and retain exceptional faculty, enhance and strengthen our curriculum, renovate space to accommodate new learning laboratories, and finally, increase our capacity to attract a talented and diverse pool of students through scholarships and financial aid.

We are excited about the road, the path we have chosen, and we invite you to take this journey with us by partnering with us in this effort.  It is our hope that you will share our convictions that Morris Brown College is worthy of your support and that, like us, you believe that what we have imagined and what we are aspiring to accomplish will become a reality. We can assure you that the college will be good stewards of all funds received, using gifts so that Morris Brown College will once more be fully accredited, earning its reputation as an excellent institution of higher learning.

Maya Angelou always said, “I have found that among its other benefits, giving liberates the soul of the giver.” Please send your contribution to the College or go online to www.morrisbrown.edu to donate to this effort by the end of this year—or certainly by March 31, 2018.Even if you cannot give $500.00, we still need you to participate by giving what you can.

Thank you for your continued support and prayers.  May you be richly blessed during this Christmas season and throughout the New Year.

Sincerely,
drpritchett-sig
