This status is effective for a period of up to five years. TRACS is recognized by the United States Department of Education (ED), the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), and the International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (INQAAHE).

Because the United States Department of Education holds all accrediting agencies to the same standards, as of July 1, 2020, it will no longer have a distinction between regional and national accrediting agencies- both regional and national agencies will be known as institutional accrediting agencies.

1. It means the institution is in compliance with the standards and criteria.
2. It has been evaluated by an on-site peer team.
3. The institution provides sound instruction and student services in the professional judgment of the evaluation team and Accreditation Commission.
4. Morris Brown is now able to apply to the U.S Department of Education to participate in financial aid programs and Title IV funding.
