This course focuses on the essential principles and practices of sanitation and safety in
food service operations. This course covers the tools, cleaning compounds, and
procedures necessary to maintain a safe and sanitary environment in the hospitality and
food service industry. Students will learn about food safety regulations, hazard analysis,
and risk management, as well as best practices for preventing foodborne illnesses.
Additionally, the course prepares students for the “Serve Safe” Certification
Examination, a nationally recognized credential that demonstrates proficiency in food
safety practices. Through lectures, practical demonstrations, and assessments, students
will gain the knowledge and skills needed to ensure compliance with health and safety
standards.
