This course explores the psychological foundations and contemporary applications of
motivation and engagement in organizational settings. Students will examine major
theories of motivation—including Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, Herzberg’s Two-Factor
Theory, Self-Determination Theory, and Expectancy Theory—as they relate to employee
performance, satisfaction, and well-being. Emphasis is placed on how individual
differences, leadership styles, organizational culture, and job design influence workplace
motivation and engagement. The course will also delve into the psychology of burnout,
reward systems, recognition programs, and strategies for fostering a resilient, highperformance workforce. Through case studies, role-plays, and applied projects, students
will learn how to assess motivational climates and implement evidence-based
interventions that improve productivity and employee morale. Ideal for students pursuing
careers in industrial-organizational psychology, human resources, management, or
leadership roles in any field.
